Shirley Chisholm always talked about how women were discriminated against and weren't given the same rights as men. So, as a result, she ran for President of the United States of America in 1972 to show women that we are capable of achieving the same things men are capable of achieving. Or in other words, she tried the rules of stereotypes to prove that women are proficient enough to be equal to men and each other. Her actions were so contagious that women today still carry on her legacy of testing the rules of stereotypes by accomplishing things men have done and much more.
