Black History Month

"I am, was, and will always be a catalyst for change"

Shirley Chisholm was a very bold and determined women.

She was the first Black women elected into the United States Congress. That was not all, she was the first women to ever run for President of the United States of America. She continuously wanted justice and equality for women in all races and in different cultures. Even though Mrs. Chisholm isn't the most talked about person in Black- History Month, she is far from unimportant or irrelevant to history. She constantly used her high position to speak out on laws, police brutality, and women's rights to have an abortion She also stood up for Americans during the Vietnam War.

Shirley Chisholm was born on November 30, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York.

I chose Shirley for my Black History Month Project because she believes in women and African-American rights just as I do.

Shirley Chisholm and her family were not slaves but, they were not rich either.

An interesting fact about Shirley Chisholm is that before she became a politician, she was a school teacher.
